I am very excited to have a copy of C.C.'s first book of this new series geared towards kids. For me, there is a lot of nostalgia to this book. When I was younger I read a lot of the detective books; searching for clues and solving cases. It really got my imagination going and this book hit straight home with those feelings. The writing style is just right for the kiddos; very rich with details that immerse you into the world of Penelope and let you feel like you are helping to solve the mystery. The character she has developed, Penelope, is a fun new role model for young kids too. Though my daughter is still a baby, reading Case #1 to her has been a blast and I know she will love it when she is a little older. Also, the author is a local talent and I think it is wonderful to see her make her mark with this fun new children's set. I have already bought #2 and looking forward to whatever else C.C. comes up with!

Both my sons kept passing the book back and forth reading chapter by chapter. Can't wait to get number 2
I give this book 5 stars! It was an easy read book. Just the right length to hold the interest of my daughter from beginning to end. Hope to see more of C C Beechums work in the future!
As an educator I speak from experience when I say we need more books like this to keep kids engaged in reading. The rich details of setting and character really draw a child into reading and the great mystery keeps them engaged throughout. I was drawn in right away and I am an adult! (Or at most times at least.) Keep writing strong, engaging books,C.C.
This is a great read! A definite for your summer reading list for school. People of all ages will enjoy this book from 8-99. If you like mysteries, you'll love this book. Penelope is the cutest detective around! She can solve anything!
What a talented new author. I purchased two books. One for myself and one for my grandneice that lives miles away and at 6 already loves to read( with help from mom). We both loved the story and can't wait for the next.She loves Penelope and wants to be just like her. She would call me each day she read and what great fun we have discussing what was happening. I have discovered a bonding hobbie for the both of us that I know will last forever. Thankyou CC Barrows !!!
